Adopt a Mission Covenant
Between
St. Mary Church
And
Catholic Community of Unicoi County
We, the brothers and sisters of St. Mary Church and of the Catholic Community of Unicoi County, have entered into a covenant relationship in which we pledge to live in support and solidarity of our Catholic Faith with and for one another.
In this relationship we will share faith with one another, pray in earnest for the welfae of one another and our respective faith communities, exchange culture and share customs and traditions with one another.
We will live this relationship by maintaining dialogue with one another, by promoting personal and communal prayer for one another and by designating one Sunday each month as a particular day of prayer for one another. We will also promote understanding of our varying regional cultures and traditions of our communities by communicating with each other about concerns, joys, faith and social life through whatever means of technology we desire.
We celebrate this covenant and agree to live it for a period of at least one year.
Keenly aware of the missionary nature of the Church and in gratitude to Almight God for the benefits of the Catholic faith and the progress of its own parish, the people of St. Mary Church agree to adopt the Catholic Community of Unicoi County, a mission parish of the Glenmary Home missioners.
To this end, we mutually agree:
- To Pray for one another
- To an exchange of bulletins, information and photograpahs, and letters of
encouragement
- To an exchange of visits by parish personnel and/or parishioners
- St. Mary Church will send a donation to Glenmary Headquarters in the
amount of $1,200.00 for one year to assist the Catholic Community of
Unicoi County in meeting its expenses, while the Catholic Community of
Unicoi County will continue its own efforts toward stability
This covenant agreement is made in good faith by both parties, with the hope of developing a warm and mutually rewarding relationship, growing in interaction, personal knowledge and caring for one another.
